The Summer in a nutshell

And I thought May went by fast? Where did the summer go?? WOW! I can't believe how incredibly fast this summer went by! Patrick has started the first grade - going to school all day, spelling tests and math tests already! I don't recall this kind of course work when I was in the first grade, then again, I don't recall much, except for it was the year we moved to Voluntown - just before the school year was over. But I really don't remember having to read as much as he does, and definitely not the math problems he's coming home with! It truly is a testament of the way the world is changing and evolving.
Katie has started Pre-K - and she is just so smart - I'll attribute some of that to Patrick though, who quizzes her on his own work. It was the cutest thing the other night, and I'll have to get this on video - they were both in Katie's bed just before bed, and Patrick was reading to Katie. Incredible! She is already spelling words, and far exceedes our assessments at the day care center for her ability levels. She is so ready for school - but she is truly a social butterfly - and a drama queen! I'm going to have to get her involved in drama classes, something, to hone in this ability she has to entertain! She's such a crack up!
I'm getting more involved with the church we joined. I saw a need to help with the Sunday morning projection of the songs and sermon - so I offered my graphic and computer ablity to the person currently running it. I hope I haven't taken on too much - I think I can handle it, but on top of everything else - I want to make sure I give back to the community with which I live - and this seemed like a no-brainer!
Here are some pictures from our summer - I will try to remember to post more often. Julie - what is the list you use to post your thoughts? It's very interesting and maybe it would help me think about what is going on around me to update things easier, instead of trying to wrangle in my random thoughts. Sometimes they need a little organization!
